Concepts Students Will Learn

Flute & Piano

   Flute and piano students will learn technique, scales, musicality, listening skills, music theory, and sight-reading skills. They will study music from the Baroque through the Modern eras, and will be able to explore musical styles that interest them including jazz, folk, pop, and sacred. Piano students will have opportunity to participate in competitions and other events through the Charlotte Piano Teachers Forum.

Recorder

   Because recorders are easy to play, they are excellent introduction to music for younger students. Recorder students will learn music reading, theory and ear training through folk, popular, and familiar songs.

Music Theory

   Theory instruction builds on the concepts students learn when playing an instrument. Students will progress from the beginning theory through harmony and arranging
